Annabelle Kyon Teo
Budding film-person living in the bustling city of Singapore

Annabelle pursued a technical diploma in Film, Sound & Video at Ngee Ann Polytechnic's acclaimed School of Film & Media Studies, Singapore. She began her journey in the entertainment industry with roles in Mediacorp Pte Ltd and The Moving Visuals Co. – both of which are highly established television and broadcast companies. Upon graduation in 2019, she temporarily took on the role of post-production editor at Vicinity Studio. Her passions for Asian cinema and Korean content however led her to pursue digital marketing for local film distributor, Purple Plan, where she is now a devoted advocate for the cinema-going experience.
Despite her extensive experience as a technical crew, Annabelle siezed the opportunity to further her studies at Australia's top institution, the University of Melbourne in 2017, and was offered a coveted position in Unimelb's rigorous honours programme in 2019. Using Netflix and the South Korean "Hallyu" wave as her case study, she posits that Asia's exponentially increasing cultural power was influential enough to oppose Western imperialism in the post-television world. Her thesis titled, "Netflix Unoriginals: Where does the West stand among the Rest", was awarded first-class honours.
In her free time, Annabelle has ventured into producing reviews about film and tv shows on her podcast, "Tteok Show", and would really appreciate it if you would follow her on Instagram, Twitter and Spotify!
